Composing a Term Paper in the APA Style: Practical Tips
Most commonly used for citation of sources in the fields of education, social sciences, and psychology, the APA style stands for American Psychological Association. If you are crafting a term paper in this format, here are a few useful tips to help you get started.

Your work should be double-spaced with a clear, legible font such as Times New Roman in 12-point size. Keep your four margins at one inch all around and place two spaces after every period at the end of a sentence.
Now that you’ve set up your font and spacing, you need to create a title page. This should include the title of your paper, your name (as the author), and the name of your institution. Here is an example:
In the top header of your page on the left side, you need to create what is known as “running head”. On the title page, you should write the words “Running head” after which you should place a colon and the title of your paper, completely capitalized, as depicted in this example:
Running head: HOW ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IMPACTS THE CHILDREN OF THOSE AFFECTED
On the top right side of your header, you need a simple page number. In all the subsequent pages, the header is almost identical to the title page; just eliminate the words “Running Head”, but keep the title capitalized and on the left side.
When you have finished writing your composition, you need to compose an abstract on the second page. It should consist of 150-250 words and give a clear and concise summary of your entire paper. As the first thing your reader views, the quality of your abstract is very vital. It should be composed as your very last step in the writing process after you have already written the term paper.
Break down the body into four sections: introduction, method, results, and discussion. The body is where you will include the meat of your article: your supporting literature, core points, your method, and the final outcome of your subject.
At the very end of your work, you need a page entitled “References” in which you list all the sources you have referred to in alphabetical order.
